When you think of smart home technology, the first things that come to mind are devices like lights, plugs, thermostats, or virtual assistants. But a heater? Honestly, it wasn't something I expected to see on that list. At least, not until I got to know the DREO 714S, a model that not only heats a room but completely redefines what we understand by "efficient heating".
What at first seemed like just another device with WiFi connectivity ended up surprising me with its ability to adapt, save energy, and offer full control from the mobile or by voice. And it's not just about convenience, but real functionality. This heater analyzes the environment, adjusts its power according to the temperature, and allows precise scheduling that adapts to daily routines without constant intervention.
We're not talking about a simple heater with extras. The DREO 714S feels like a step forward in home climate control, with notable thermal efficiency, a discreet design, and, above all, integrated intelligence that really makes a difference. In this review I share my complete experience, with its pros, its cons, and why it ended up changing my understanding of winter comfort.
A heater with style: compact, elegant design and surprisingly well-crafted
Let's be honest: when you think of a heater, the last thing you expect is to find an attractive design. For years, these devices have been synonymous with pure and rugged functionality, with bulky structures, cheap materials, and an aesthetic so forgettable that, as soon as the cold ends, they end up relegated to the back of a closet. That's why the design of the DREO whole-room heater 714S is surprising — and a lot — from the first glance.
This smart heater breaks the norm from the start. It’s not one of those heaters that look like an electric grill, nor the typical white and black cube of flimsy plastic. Here we have a device that grabs the eye and integrates naturally in any room of the home, without creating that “temporary device” feeling you want to hide as soon as a guest arrives.
The DREO 714S is available in three colors —white, black and gray—, and although each tone has its charm, the white finish stands out for its elegance and its ability to blend with modern environments. The materials also play in its favor: the plastic has a solid texture, not fragile, and the incorporation of metallic details, such as the logo plate or the base that houses the mode settings, gives it that “premium” touch you wouldn’t expect in a heater in this range.
Another interesting point is its size. It is compact, lightweight and easy to move thanks to a perfectly integrated rear handle, which makes it easier to use in different rooms around the home as needed. In addition, by not exposing either the resistors or metal rods, it maintains a clean, discreet, and quite modern look. The inner blades, which mimic the aesthetics of a fan, add a sophisticated air without sacrificing functionality.
And since we're talking about functionality, the rotating base deserves special mention. This whole-room heater allows a horizontal rotation of 30°, 60° or 90°, configurable both from the control panel and from the remote app or the remote control. In addition, the head can also tilt 30° up or down, achieving a heat (or air, if you use it as a fan in summer) distribution that is much more efficient and personalized.
This smart model is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, which allows control via voice commands if you connect it to your home automation ecosystem, whether with Amazon Echo or Google Nest. Not only can you turn it on or off with your voice, you can also adjust the temperature or change modes without leaving the sofa.
Lastly, security details like the automatic shut-off in case of a fall are appreciated. If it is bumped or knocked over accidentally, the device stops and emits an alert chirp, ideal if you have kids or pets at home. Add to this that it is a quiet heater, very silent even at full power, and with a maximum consumption of 2000W, which is offset by its speed when heating.

An app that makes a difference: the true control center of the DREO 714S
When talking about heaters, the first thing that comes to mind is how much they heat or how much energy they use. However, before getting into those aspects, there's a key point that makes the DREO 714S something more than just a heater: its smart side. And no, it's not a decorative feature or a forgettable app. Here, the app is the true heart of the system.
At first, I even thought I wouldn’t give it too much importance. The usual: once everything is configured, I assumed you just needed to press a button and that would be it. But as days went by, I discovered that that smart connectivity provides a level of control and convenience that goes far beyond what's typical. Yes, it’s still a heater, but one that adapts to you in ways traditional models can’t even dream of.
The Dreo app is simple, intuitive, and well thought out. It doesn’t overwhelm with hidden menus or complicated options, and that’s exactly what a home device needs. Moreover, while you can perfectly use the control panel or the remote, it’s in the app where you find total control: viewing the ambient temperature, setting the desired degrees, changing modes, or scheduling daily routines becomes almost addictive due to how easy it is.
Practical example? If you place the heater in the bathroom and you know you shower at 7 in the morning, you can program from the app for it to turn on a few minutes before and turn off when you’re done. You can even set the days of the week you need it. All this, without having to remember it every time. And if you’re into automation, you can link it to the outside temperature so it activates according to the weather in your city, although this option requires a bit more fine-tuning, since it will depend on your home's insulation and other factors.
Another very useful feature is open-window detection. If the heater is operating but it notices that the temperature isn’t rising as it should, it sends you an alert. Ideal for those moments when a window is left ajar by mistake. It’s also very easy to create timers and choose among different operating modes: three levels of heat, three of fan, and the "Eco" mode, which automatically regulates operation to maintain a constant temperature with the least possible consumption.
In Eco mode, by the way, the system turns off when it reaches the set temperature, and turns back on if it drops. Thanks to the internal sensor, there’s no need to monitor anything: the DREO 714S adjusts itself to maintain comfort.
That said, not everything is perfect. There’s a small detail missing: a more precise control of oscillation from the app. It’s possible to choose between 30°, 60°, or 90° of automatic rotation, but you can’t select an exact angle to point exactly where you want without getting up from the sofa. It’s not a big deal — because you can move it manually without issue — but considering the level of control it offers in other aspects, that option would have been the icing on the cake.
Daily use of the DREO 714S: immediate heat and hassle-free
After talking about the design and its excellent integration with the app, it’s time for one of the most important aspects of any heater: how it behaves day to day. And here the DREO 714S continues to surprise, not so much for being revolutionary, but for how well it delivers on its promises.
The first sensation when you turn it on already makes a difference. No more waiting for the elements to heat up gradually. This model incorporates a PTC ceramic heater (Positive Temperature Coefficient), a technology that allows reaching temperature almost instantly. In a matter of seconds, it starts blowing hot air, which is a relief when you need urgent warmth on a cold morning.
Not only is it quick to respond, but the type of heat is soft, pleasant, without that dry or harsh feeling that some devices generate. It has a slight odor at first, but nothing bothersome or with that typical cheap plastic smell that bothers so many.
That said, its effectiveness varies by space. In small rooms, like a 5 m² bathroom, it shines on its own. In my tests, I went from 20°C to 24°C in just eight minutes. Ideal for those winter showers when you don't want to shiver for a second.
In medium spaces, like a 10 m² office, performance remains excellent. It heats evenly, quietly, and keeps the temperature stable thanks to its smart thermostat. This is where the DREO 714S feels at its comfort zone.
That said, in large rooms, like a living room over 20 m², don’t expect miracles. It can serve as a temporary support, but it won’t replace a main heating system. For example, in my 21 m² living room, it took half an hour to rise by just one degree (from 22.9°C to 23.9°C).
To heat a specific spot —like your feet while you’re at the desk, or the kitchen while you’re making breakfast— it works wonderfully. But if you’re looking for long-lasting warmth for an entire large room, you’ll probably need something more robust.
Still, what I value most after weeks of use is its ease of use and speed. You turn it on, and comfort arrives almost instantly. And that, in winter, is priceless.

Energy consumption of the DREO 714S: good thing it heats in record time
Let's get to the point: the DREO 714S is not a low-energy device, at least not if you use it at its maximum power. It reaches up to 2,000 W according to specifications, a figure that might worry you if you plan to leave it on for hours. However, what really makes the difference here is its speed to heat and how it manages energy.
In practice, consumption varies quite a bit depending on the level selected. In mode H1, it consumes around 800 W, in H2 it rises to about 980 W, and in H3 it reaches 1,500 W, which is usually the mode that automatically activates when a rapid temperature increase is needed.
The upside is the Eco mode: it fixes a temperature, and when reached, the heater turns off until it detects a drop, operating in cycles. This reduces prolonged use to what is necessary. Additionally, in fan mode, it barely consumes 5 W, ideal for summer.
Conclusion? It isn’t the most efficient on the market, but its speed means you use it for less time, which makes up for it quite a bit in daily use.
Conclusion: an intelligent heater that convinces from the first use
After several weeks using the DREO 714S, I can say without a doubt that this heater has exceeded my expectations. Not only for its ability to heat quickly, but for how it combines design, technology, and efficiency in a compact and well-thought-out format.
Its discreet and elegant aesthetics make it a device that fits in anywhere in the home. The smart connectivity, far from being a mere add-on, provides useful features that really make a difference in daily life. And although its consumption may seem high in certain modes, the fact that it can heat small spaces in minutes makes it a practical solution, especially for occasional use.
It doesn’t replace a central heating system, that’s clear, but as a supplement in specific rooms, such as the bathroom, the office, or the kitchen, it is simply ideal. An intelligent heater, functional and, finally, beautiful.
